Mr. Amigone is a native Buffalonian and a resident of Buffalo. He is the father of Mary Amigone of Dallas, Texas; Anthony P., Jr.; Vincent J.; and Danielle Amigone of Atlanta, Georgia.
He received his education from the University of Buffalo (Business), the Simmons Institute in Syracuse (Mortuary), Kensington and Canisius High School, and St. Lawrence Grammar School.
Mr. Amigone served in the United States Army in the far east during the time of the Korean Conflict. He was with the United States Army Graves Registration Unit which was in charge of the return of the Korean War dead. While in Japan, he was employed by the Mitsubishi Chemical Company serving as a Public Relations representative and taught colloquial English to their managers. While with Mitsubishi, he had the privilege of being received by the Emperor of Japan.
In 1955, Mr. Amigone played an important role in bringing American ideas and knowledge of modern-day embalming and funeral service to the city of Hong Kong where he was associated with Paul Chang, the President of the International Funeral Parlors of Hong Kong and Singapore.
A major highlight in Mr. Amigone's life was in 1958 when he was privileged to be received in the first non-cleric private audience with the late Pope John XXII, having arrived in Rome on the first 707 Pan-American jet plane to land in Rome.
In May of 1987, Mr. Amigone was the Dinner Chairman of the 50 Year Anniversary of the opening of Kensington High School. This event was the largest sit-down dinner of its kind in the history of the city of Buffalo, with over 3,800 in attendance. On July 20, 1987, Mayor James Griffin presented Mr. Amigone with the Buffaloian of the Year Award for dedication and service to the Buffalo community.
